Community Foundation Now Accepting Scholarship Applications


The Community Foundation of Central Wisconsin is accepting scholarship applications from students furthering their post-secondary education next fall. The Community Foundation currently offers over 30 scholarships and each follows criteria established by the fund representative. Scholarships are available for students who excel academically, artistically, athletically and for those having a desire to further their education. Applicants can be graduates from area high schools as well as non-traditional and continuing college students.


The Community Foundation annually distributes over $117,000 in scholarships, with awards announced each June. An application is required and is available through the Community Foundation website at www.cfcwi.org or by contacting the Community Foundation office at 715.342.4454. The deadline for all scholarship applications is March 1, 2011.

Parents and students are encouraged to contact the Foundation or your school’s guidance counselors for more information on the various scholarships available to graduating seniors.

Arts Alliance of Portage County


Bill Schierl, President of the Arts Alliance of Portage County, presents Terry Rothmann, Executive Director of Community Foundation of Central Wisconsin, a check for $2,000 to support the Arts & Culture Mission Endowment Fund.  This donation represents an annual commitment by the Arts Alliance to support long term funding for the arts as part of their Cornerstone Membership fundraising. The Arts & Culture Mission Endowment Fund provides annual grants assisting programs in Portage County with an emphasis on arts and culture.  Past grant recipients have been Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra,  Portage County Historical Society, Stevens Point City Band Fund,  Friends of 2713 Fund, and Downtown Mural Fund.

Artists as First Responders

The Community Foundation of Central Wisconsin welcomes the Artists as First Responders to its family of funds.  A charter agreement was recently signed to establish this new fund at the Community Foundation

“Distributions from the fund will provide art programs to children living in difficult situations following natural disasters like the folding in Cusco, Peru ” said Terry Rothmann, Executive Director.
